Here's some shots from our visit to Earth Dog when I was four years old.

Hey hey it's me, Hamish!! The I-must-be-seeing-double Welshie!

One day we went to check out the Earth Dog trials, where you chase a rat in tunnels.

...

Sounds like fun, and lots of kids came to play, but seems to me like the ratio of waiting-to-fun is way outta whack.

Like I said. Waiting is important in this game. Only one 9" square tunnel, over 50 kids, and only one at a time.

...

Because Welshies are so rare in this neck of the woods, we went mostly to meet Woody the Welshie, my pen pal from Salt Lake City, Utah. (That's Woody on the left.)

.
Woody is a Champ at Earth Dog. No, he's not small, he's 15" tall, the breed standard. Meeting Woody, I found out I'm sorta the Shaquille O'Neal of Welshie-dom.

.....

Anyway, for what is an official AKC dog sport, Woody and I couldn't believe the signs were so darn unfriendly!

Almost Woody's turn to go chase the rat. You can see he's focused, excited, rarin' to go... and still waiting.

...

Cameras weren't allowed, but Woody did great when he and his dad finally got to run the course. We were proud of him!

I may be too freakin' big to help Woody uphold the Welshie banner at Earth Dog, but I'm still just happy to be Hamish.
